Academies
(Ages 4 - 12)
First Touch Academies include one practice per week with a First Touch Soccer Coach, and usually a scrimmage on the weekend, which is overseen by First Touch staff. The scrimmages don’t require uniforms and no rosters are selected. It’s the fun of a competitive game circuit, without the commitment usually required with teams playing in a league format. A First Touch Soccer Academy is a developmental program and a jersey is included in the cost.
Camps
(Ages 4 – 16)
First Touch offers half-day (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and full-day (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) soccer camps. A typical First Touch Soccer Camp consists of technical activities, fun games, and scrimmages in a tournament format. First Touch staff are experienced and well-trained in the delivery of the camp programs.
What is the difference between League play (AYSO Core) and the Spring/Summer Academy?
In AYSO Core, players are placed on a team with a coach and receive uniforms and play against other teams in scheduled matches -- we call this "League soccer." Region 114 ONLY offers League Soccer during the Fall season. During the rest of the year, we partner with First Touch soccer to offer Academies and camps to our players.
The Academies are similar to league play -- players have one weekday practice plus scrimmages on Saturdays. However there are important differences -- the Academies are run by licensed trainers from First Touch; the scrimmage Saturdays are free play with no coaching and no referees (and no parent interference). It's all about kids having fun in a "schoolyard like" environment. Soccer for the fun of soccer. Another key difference is that in the Fall League play, the Head Coach chooses the practice schedule, but with Academies parents can choose which weeknight to practice when they register on the First Touch Soccer website.
